CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

The executive search industry continues to show strong growth in 2007, without any end in sight. The strong demand for executive search services is just one of many economic indicators demonstrating that the global economy continues to grow at a rapid pace. Companies are investing again to strengthen their organizational capabilities in order to best position them to execute tomorrow's business strategies, but the competition for top talent remains fierce.

Hunt-Scanlon returns to London for our second annual conference to examine what it takes to attract and retain the best and brightest talent and why it is so critical. To discuss and debate this theme, we are assembling distinguished business leaders from some of the UK's most successful organizations who will offer a wide-spectrum of viewpoints. The agenda will cover important factors including executive recruiting’s added-value; the shift to London as the world’s dominant financial capital; the role China, India and South America will play in the years to come; building a talent pipeline for future leaders; how to identify the best candidates; creating shareholder value through people; and the power of leadership.

DAY ONE - Wednesday, November 7, 2007

6:00 - 7:00 p.m. - Cocktail Reception (The Waterloo Room)

7:00 - 7:30 p.m. - Executive Recruiting's Added Value

For an executive search firm, earning repeat business is an important metric in determining the success of an assignment and satisfaction of a client.  Many clients would admit that the decision to retain the same firm again and again is based more on the additional value delivered by the search professional that wasn't noted on the initial RFP.  Recruiting industry stalwart, Andrew Garner, will discuss why the secret to success in the search industry is becoming the trusted advisor and will share his thoughts on which services clients should not pay for.

7:30 - 8:15 p.m. - Dinner

8:15 - 9:00 p.m. - Hunt-Scanlon Global Human Capital Leadership Award

Beyond traditional HR programs, Hunt-Scanlon's Global Human Capital Leadership Award recipients champion organization-wide efforts, focused on getting the "best" not the "most" out of their people. Through excellent communication, accessibility and exemplary leadership style, they create a unified vision of their organization's values that engages employees and inspires them with a strong sense of purpose. The end result is an organization that enjoys high levels of customer satisfaction, positive market perception, and superior shareholder value. Leading by example, our 2007 recipient, Todd Stitzer, has successfully created an atmosphere at Cadbury Schweppes that emphasizes integrity, respect and team work and encourages honest, candid and open communication. Under his leadership, Cadbury Schweppes has remained a consistent leader outperforming industry averages in key categories of revenue, profit, EBITDA, while continuing to grow a portfolio of many of the most recognizable and admired brands in the world.

DAY TWO - Thursday, 8 November 2007

7:30 - 8:45 a.m. - Registration and Continental Breakfast

8:45 - 9:00 a.m. - Welcoming Comments by Moderator

9:00 - 9:45 a.m. - Sea Change In the Hunt for Global Talent

The executive search industry has enjoyed a five year period of substantial growth with overall revenues and profits at record levels. Unlike other times of significant growth, however, the activity and profit centers are surging in new geographical arenas which may substantially alter the balance of search activity on a global scale. The CEO of one of the world's largest and most recognizable search firms will discuss these shifting markets: why has London become the new center of financial services activity? How large and significant a role will China play in the years to come? Will emerging markets in India and South America overtake the traditional business centers of the U.S.? With these paradigm changes, how will the hunt for global talent change and how are search firms positioning for this dynamic sea-change?

Chief Executive Officer

9:45 - 10:30 a.m. - Building a Pipeline of Future Leaders

Successful companies continually develop leadership capacity by hiring and developing individuals who they identify as having the ability to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organization. By building a pipeline of future leaders, they are better positioned to respond to change and to sustain growth and high performance over the long-term. A panel featuring HR executives from corporations widely known for their leadership development practices, and their executive search counterparts, will share success stories and discuss how they lead their organization's efforts to make identifying and grooming top talent a strategic priority.

10:30 - 11:00 a.m. - Networking Break

11:00 - 11:30 a.m. - Diversifying a Company's Human Capital Portfolio

According to a recent Fortune study, the composite stock returns of the 50 Best Companies for Minorities outperformed the S&P 500 on both a three and five-year time period. This statistical finding combined with looming demographic and population shifts supports the viewpoint that companies without strong diversity initiatives in place are increasingly at a competitive disadvantage. Today, most leading organizations understand that the importance of building a culturally diverse workforce goes beyond just establishing a positive workplace environment - it also makes good business sense. The Head of Human Resources for one of the largest global banking institutions will discuss her company's diversity initiatives, the impact they have on overall performance and how these strategies sustain the support of her company's executive teams.

11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. - Determining Fit: Identifying the Best Candidates

In a recent poll, recruiters ranked "fit" as the No. 1 quality companies look for in a new hire, above skills, credentials and overall intelligence. Groups with natural synergy work better together and produce more. As a result, building and nurturing teams with good fit is one of the best things a manager can do to enhance a company's prospects for success. Employees that do not fit stand to diminish a company's return on human capital. Though fit is clearly an important characteristic, it is also very difficult to measure. A panel of HR executives and executive recruiters will examine various interviewing and screening methodologies used by large organizations, and their executive search counterparts, to understand the qualifications and personalities of candidates for executive level positions to determine the one best suited for the role. Panelists will discuss the realities of the process including the unique practices of each organization, the use of testing, what are the common mistakes made and what is the depth of the decision-making process that goes into a final selection.

1:30 - 2:15 p.m. - The New Vision for HR

HR's position within an organisation has always given it a unique and powerful perspective but until recently the expectation of most HR departments has been limited to delivering necessary services and rarely acknowledged for creating value. Fierce market conditions, the scarcity of skilled talent and the continual search for differentiation are just a few of the factors changing that view. Today, companies are looking to leverage their HR department as a strategic asset, creating a crucial link between organisational capabilities, business objectives and shareholder value. This new vision of HR represents a golden opportunity for professionals in the field of HR to become crucial contributors to the success of a business. DHL Logistics Human Resources Director EMEA - Susie Robinson believes that making this aspiration a reality begins with HR professionals themselves. Susie will discuss her perspectives on the new vision of HR, the skills professionals need to develop and the critical drivers she believes HR can contribute to an organisation to create value.

2:15 - 3:00 p.m. - The Power of Leadership

History teaches us that great leaders transcend generations and the lessons they teach us reach across all sectors of humanity. Our final keynote speaker of the day will provide such a historical perspective. Why do critical times in history create great leaders and, why these same qualities, although from a different time in history, relate strongly to the business leaders of today? In this special presentation, Winston S. Churchill III, will discuss the skills, abilities, foibles, and the special timing that empowered great leaders, including his grandfather, Sir Winston Churchill, in times of great challenge and how these same skills can be applied to the challenges our special audience faces today in measuring key talent to lead the corporate sector of today and in the future.
