7:00 - 7:30 p.m. - Defining Quality Metrics in Search
One of the byproducts of the maturation and institutionalization of the executive search industry is the need for metrics to enable users to buy services more effectively. Some industry observers argue that the search completion rates firms report tend to be skewed and inconsistent. Why not report placement rate? This is the true measure of meeting the client's needs - placing a world-class candidate into position. Does the search industry need an independent verification process for accurately measuring placement rates and other vital performance statistics so that hiring managers have transparency and assurance that their assignments will be completed? Brian Sullivan, chairman of Christian & Timbers, one of the world's premier search firms, weighs in on the need for firms to report more than just their sales figures.

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and author Doris Kearns Goodwin discusses the ability of great chief executives to assemble and mold a group of talented, diverse and often competitive direct reports into a cohesive team with shared values and objectives. Drawing upon her most recent work, Team of Rivals, Ms. Goodwin describes how the one-term congressman and prairie lawyer, Abraham Lincoln, rose from obscurity to prevail over three gifted rivals of national reputation to become president. Like many other gifted CEOs Lincoln had a mastery of men that enabled him to convert rivals into allies as they together shaped the most significant presidency in the nation's history.

9:45 - 10:30 a.m. - How Current and Projected Business Trends Affect Human Capital Strategies
In just about every sector of the current U.S. economy, businesses have never been healthier or more profitable. Nevertheless, some large corporations are approaching growth conservatively, remembering lessons learned during our most recent recessionary period and keeping an eye on the uncertainties in today's global economy. Considering how trends like rising healthcare costs, globalization, record high oil prices and threats of inflation will affect their business in the short and long-term is a key responsibility of the executive suite and their organization's success can depend on how they react. Renowned BusinessWeek executive editor Magazine and author of eight books on business, leadership, and management, including Jack: Straight from the Gut, John Byrne will discuss key business trends that are affecting the human capital strategies of the world's top employers and share his candid perspectives on how these trends will play out.

10:30 - 11:00 a.m. - Networking Break (Reid Salon)
11:00 - 12:00 p.m. - Executive Roundtable: Diversifying an Organization's Human Capital Portfolio
According to a Fortune study, the composite stock returns of the 50 Best Companies for Minorities outperformed the S&P 500 on both a three and five-year time period. This statistical finding combined with looming demographic and population shifts supports the viewpoint that companies without strong diversity initiatives in place are increasingly at a competitive disadvantage. Today, most leading organizations understand that the importance of building a culturally diverse workforce goes beyond just establishing a positive workplace environment - it also makes good business sense. In a special roundtable discussion, a panel of corporate diversity professionals will discuss their company's diversity initiatives, the impact they have on overall performance and how these strategies sustain the support of their executive teams.
